What temperature does a vw golf mark 3 gti run at? I have had a new engine fitted and my car runs at 117 Degrees C. I Think i may need a new radiator. Please help, thank you

well assuming it's water cooled I would say that's very hot! probably in the process of over heating.

I have an 'R' reg Seat Ibiza GTi 2l 8v (should be same engine)

Most runs it will barely get to 80 deg c, I have never seen it get past 90!

Seems very high to me..........

Was the old engine over-heating?

My car never showed any signs of overheating. Just had a new engine fitted today so hopefully it wont do it anymore. Am contemplating putting a new radiator on incase the last owner put rad weld in and that caused it. Cheers

should be no less than 65 and no higer than 90, try using some anti freeze in with the water and that should bring it down a bit

also is your cooling fan kicking in cause vw's are known for blowing the cooling fan fuse
