Nightmare getting daughter dressed
All of a sudden my daughter, who is nearly 4, is having major tantrums when getting dressed as she doesn't want to put anything over her head. I've tried counting 1,2,3 then putting tops on (but she screams and runs away, ducking her head out of them) and even putting my head in it to show there's no harm. As far as I know, no-ones put anything over her head to cause this fear. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Should I try and accomodate her and only buy buttoned tops? Will she grow out of it? Any ideas?

My daughter did this but I knew she was deffinatly trying it on. We had row after row over getting dressed in the morning and were forever late. One morning I lost it and said right we are not being late again so you will go as you are. I stuffed the clothes in a carrier bag and went out to the car with her in her pants and slippers. She sobbed that they would all laugh at her if we turned up at nursery like that. We got out of the car and got dressed on the drive. She never did it again.
If you think she really is scared I wouldnt recomend that theory. We tried the clothes fairy on the other one and looked round to see if the fairys would help when we were not looking. That worked. We have food fairys too!!

My daughter suddenly started screaming blue fits when having her hair washed, so I went into TV Presenter mode and pretended to be talking ahead into a camera, while talking like a blue peter presenter, presenting how a princess washes her hair, with a few jokes about some grumpy princesses thrown in. Total co- operation and giggles too, worked a treat with a few things, now she asks if we can do it with a variety of tasks or activities just as a game.
Also she was a nightmare putting her tights on in the morning, making a real fuss about the toe seams, causing a really stressful start to the day. Her Dad wasn't too pleased when she changed one day and was fine when I put her tights on, but not him. He asked her "why don't you whinge when Mam does it?" "Because she's been on a course on how to put tights on!" she replied. I just give a little contented smile and said that Dad should book himself a place!

Thank you for your suggestions! Taking her to the car in her underwear would probably traumatise her more - I do think she's being genuine. Gonna give some of the other suggestions a go - don't know why I didn't think of 'fairies' and princess related things as she is quite a girly girl and will probably fall for them. Cheers!
