Hi,
I have an 02 Nissan micra (original shape) and recently the blower only decides to turn on on MAX, when i turn the dial down to MIN or anywhere inbetween it just turns off.

I've checked the fuse, that's intact. What else do i need to look into?

Its nothing to do with fuses etc but for the life of me I can`t remember the name of the part that causing the problem. Its a common problem with most cars but I think its easily sorted out on Nissans (well on my Primera it was)
Gonna have to watch this post for replies because its bugging me what the parts called. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

(teash) will do, and thnx for such a prompt reply
Our micra did the same, the resistor pack need to be renewed. I can't remember if i did it myself but if you but the resistor (like i did) or what ever nissan call it in the book just get it fitted. I think it just plugs in, the dealers spare dept will know what your on about. I think the resistor pack was about around if not less than 10 uk pounds but that was 8 years ago. you need a nissan spares department not a high street car spares shop.

found this and lots more on google...
"Micky,
behind the glove box you will find the heater motor, mounted in the air box trunking. (To the n/s of the car.)
Close to this is the heater motor resistor pack, which is retained by, I think!, two screws. Remove this, and you will see a flat plate with a printed circuit board. Check this for visable damage. If you can see a "blown" track, then the resistor has failed"

Regards graeme.
teash, you did not have to wait to long :-)
it is definitely the heater resistor n/s under dash visible with out removing anything except 2 screws to remove it about 30

(Diode Dug)
Thanks for the detailed reply, However, I'd like to know if the instructions you posted remain for newer reg micras (but in the original shape)
I belive there was 3 micra's the new and current one is
not the one i had. The micra i am ref to was stopped around 02 here a pic of the type i am on about.

(diode dug) Thanks, but mine is the one after this and before the UGLY new bubbly thing!!!!

This One:

So, before i delve into things, can i have one more confirmation please...

will my resistor pack be under the glove box (as diode dug suggests) or n/s under dash (as big bri suggests)

bdw, off topic but who prefers the new bubbly thing over the original clean design ???????
The "boot shape" as i call it took a while to grow on me say 6 month but the new ugly design just does not work. the bug lights and rear end look horrid.
My dad had a nissan as a loan vehicle it had auto every thing and did the job 100% however he is 76 years of age
so that should say it all.

The car in the picture was just a chromed up version of the original MK II nissan towards its end of life, i belive the mechanics are the same.

As far as where the resistor is I can only tell you it was easy to get at and just plugs in. Where the resistor is i belive is a matter of entry, to get at it. You would be better of just removing the covers and having a look around with a lamp. I can remember but its was easy to do.

If you still unsure have a "google"

dont forget to let us know how you get on.
I forgot to say the nissan spares dept will turn the screen around towards the customer and show you where the resistor is fitted if you ask them.
