This is something that is really hacking me off at the moment, not just BA.
I am going to The Gambia for my honeymoon three weeks today; part of my stay will be to visit a school I have been working with to rasie funding to build the school and provide training for the headteacher. Upon writing to Airtours to ask for extra luggage in order to take skipping ropes, exercise books, pencils, toothbrushes, etc. they wrote back and told me no because (note point c):
a) they have their own charities (which I do understand and respect);
b) of new baggage handling laws and;
c) if I go 1kg over my baggage limit it will incur a fuel stop.
So, me. By myself. Singular. One person can be held entirely responsible for a fuel stop? I know that it was probably just worded badly but I am not asking for extra luggage because I can't decide whether to take my Manolo's or my Jimmy Choo's now.
I specifically asked for up to a sports holdall size / around 15kg.
And incidentally, it is a five hour 50 min flight, which doesn't count as long haul so my allowance for 2 weeks is only 20kg anyway!
