After a minor hiccup or two we've now got ourselves back on track and Aquagility promises to put on his bi-focals before he enters the link words so as NOT to give seekeerz an awful fright and seven more grey hairs when she reads what was initially posted.
Now to start and this will be quite a marathon effort and I'll start with the two-pointers first -
slaney with Harvest MOON
crofter with Kensington PALACE
Jan1956 with Event HORIZON
and again a two-pointer went begging for Energy CONVERSION
though I must make special mention here that JILLYSBOY came closest with Conservation, but not close enough, sorry, so no cigar.
Now with 3 points each for inspired matches we have
wickedtongue
chriss
JRM27
and with two matches - ulysses100, cliffyg, bangor, zacharias, twosearch, Mr paulineward [hi Reg],
ARC, Littleowl, Elspeth, and gen2.
and to finish up, scoring one point were lector, tenter, JRB, Mr JimJools, paulineward, Grenmus, bridgenut, Arabesque, Magyar, teacher1, lloyd1e, chiefpanda, Alibobs, devadiva, masterchef, cpfcrosiel, lysander and seekeerz.
OK I think that's about all from this weeks competition - will do some more arithmetic and supply a current leader shortly, probably on this thread, but it will depend on 'feeding time at the zoo' which will be upon the seekeerz household very soon now
Congratulations to all our points scorers and this week there's been quite a number so keep up the good work, if nothing else it gives us food for thought !! bye, Steff

No points for me again so will have to wait in the Freefall Club for my old mate Ont-ice to return from his travels! ;o)

Thank you Aquagility. Especially as I have just realised I messed his entry up. He actually gave me his list with Harvest moon on it and I put Harvest festival. So he would have had 2 not 1. But I wasn't well on Sat (bid for sympathy) and I think he was lucky that was the only mistake on his entry. I did a better job of messing up on mine.
First-class Act, Steff - Well done!
Congratulations to all point scorers (and flat liners)!
The enthusiasm for the chase is what keeps us all going as potential ENERGY goes through CONVERSION into kinetic ENERGY. By the way, I would agree with your scoring of JILLYSBOY's "conservation".
I note Jools' admission of mishandling Jim's links. What a shame for Jim. On the MM game they stand at 1-1 at present following Organ Grinder from Jools. They had quite a high score in Dec 06 (or Jan 07?) so they cannot be ignored!
I also recognise "wickedtongue" as doing well in both gamesoing consistently well in the past. This consistency is evidence that there is a skill to selecting "likely" words. This very point was raised by my good friend Dustybun and answered superbly by fellow team member rogerr (aka Barbara): I you lose it's LUCK, but if you win it's SKILL! Here Barbara locks a home truth inside homespun humour! Brilliant!
What a team to have alongside you: Steff, Barbara and Aquagility (the paper boy, crossword solver and postman).
Thanks to you ALL for your continued support and endless enthusiasm in the face of scant reward in terms of points!

OK I'm back as promised with a further update and happy to announce that we in fact have two leaders, with a very creditable 5 points each -
Jan1956 and JMR27,
hotly pursued [when he can untie his feet] with 3 points over two weeks is
ulysses100
along with wickedtongue and chriss who both scored 3 points this week.
So it's 'down time' now, we'll rest our over heated grey cells [once we've absorbed 'event horizon'] and recuperate before doing it all again next Saturday.
thank you all for the encouragement, I really enjoy this undertaking and all that goes with it - see you all later, Steff
The range of 4 to 8 letters was tacit in the words of MM and has been self-imposed in the MM Links Game. Similarly some link words went before and some went after.
The new style of Herculis (run by KM = daughter of MM) does not follow either of these conventions, in that words can be of any length and to date all link words have followed the original word!
Hence you must choose a different strategy for KM.
