huge aloe vera
I have a huge aloe vera (5ft),it sits in my coservatory where it thrives. At the base of it there is new growth and I would like to perhaps cut back the plant to this as it is taking up space. Can I do this?

What I would do is wait until spring and carefully remove the new growth (offset) by pulling it away from the parent plant and pot it up in a 2-3 inch pot and it should take root in about 2-4 weeks, then start all over again and potting-on as it grows.
Maybe a friend who has some space might like to take on the five footer. Good Luck Tbird+
