Is it more productive to take an intense course of driving lessons or a few hours a week?

I passed my test three and a bit years ago.(at the third attempt) THe first test I took I did a week long intensive and failed quite horribly.
I found that spacing the lessons out is much more productive. YOu will find it much easier if you do two lessons a week as you have time to take things in and ponder on them between lessons.
During the intensive all the informtaion you need is thrown at you in one big lump!

cromity1 is right lucky eight, intensive courses are always very demanding and usually only recommended for people who have already mastered the basic controls (steering, clutch etc) A more popular and successful way is a semi intensive - spread lessons over several weeks, you then have more time to take in the info. handy if you want to pass quickly but at a more comfortable pace.

Nice one, thanks for answers - especially as they are from personal experience. I have been tempted to do a 2 weeks intensive course but they are really expensive and I feared may just be rushing it (I do have the basics but it's been a while since I've been in a car) so think the few hours a week plan will be better.
