Contractors have stolen money
I am in the middle of having quiet a lot of work carried out at my property. The work is inside and outside, and there are three sets of keys to the property, I have one copy, my partner has another copy, and the third copy was given to the contractors so they could carry out the works, without either of us being there. I came home from work to find 580 stolen from the property - the company is stating there was no proof that it was there and will not refund the money - how do i stand legally on this.

The police advised it wasn't worth their time to fingerprint the desk, and no the contractors had no reason to go in the desk.
The contractors have advised there is no proof (the same as the police) and therefore they are not prepared to give me my money back. Especially since the police are not prepared to do anything!
