Horns Inn, Widnes
Does anyone know anything about Horns Inn, Widnes in the 19th century and do you know where I can find a photo?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.i needed to find out info on the Red Lion at Stocton Heath after finding my family were recorded there on the 1861/71.81 and 91 census returned, It was in 1989 when I was looking and I found that the Licensing records went back to the late 1890s and they were held at xheshire Record Office.
have you checked the census returns for the pub and read the enumerators description of the root, this will tell you where it was, i have found a wite on widnes past and present and it lists widnes pubs that were licensed in the very early 1900s but the Horns Inn is not shown, the census would be a good place to find what name it changed to.

However, Widnes Library has its own Local History section:

The collection includes business directories (which were published more frequently than the census). Most business directories show the names of pub landlords, so you should be able to find out how long each publican was in charge for. If you're really lucky, there might be an advert for the pub, with further details.
