Shade tolerant veg
Just cleared a lovely area of good soil, but it's behind our garden sheds, so is in the shade all day.
Are there any vegetables I can plant which will tolerate being in the shade?
Long term plan is to use the area for chickens, but just thought I'd grow something first.

If the soil is in shade but you get some sunshine higher up, it might be worth trying a few runner beans or climbing French beans, letting them enjoy the sunlight as they climb further up the poles. I grow thornless blackberries on a north facing fence which is in shade virtually all day and still get a wonderful crop of fruit.
