I'm glad that I wasn't the only one uncertain of this clue .. I searched extensively and could only find Ella Fitzgerald or Etta Jones .. but nobody with a surname to fit pattern.

Of the two options Ella fits criteria, so have gone with that .. and would agree clue not complete.

I don't think the clue is incomplete because she is generally known as "Ella" and has released a number of albums under that title, without using her surname.
