Annoyed at housemate
20 Answers
Right please tell me if im being over the top, but my housemate who has been getting on my nerves for a while now, is actually supposed to be a friend. We went out for my other housemates (my best friends)birthday yesterday. Me and my best friend came home at 12 and the other housemate came in at what i believe to be about an hour later. I woke up this morning to find chocolate smeared everywhere on walls, kitchen appliances everything. To then i realise that the tw@ has eaten the birthday cake that i bought for my best friends birthday that we were supposed to be having tomorow!!! I confronted him about it this morning (well afternoon i think he avoided us ALL day) and he just said "well i wont deny it i cant remember if i ate is" no sorry no nothing no replacing it!!! I am absolutely fuming to the extent i could of punched him . The rules in the house are he buys his own food and we buy ours, but he constantly eats all our stuff because he cant be bothered to do much shopping as he wants to spend it all on drink and hes 26 and acts like hes 16! Im seriously annoyed by this and by other things i wont go into to the point me and my best friend dont want to live with him anymore. Though the only way we could probably do that is by us moving out... What would you do?
Thanks in advance guys

Thing was, the cake was a boxed, unopened frozen gateux in MY freezer drawer, he ate the whole lot it serves 6!!! Had the cheek to leave the empty box in the freezer and didnt even eatit with a plate or anything with his bare hands what kind of an animal? It was still frozen!!!! And to add insult to injury, the bathroom taps, walls and sink are covered with chocolate gateux off his hands that he hasnt bothered to clean. Its the principle my friend doesnt have a birthday cake anymore and of course il buy anyother one for her but it just isnt the same. Im so angry i feel like literally ripping his head off and sh!tting in his bed. Though im not like that, i like to be the better person. And same as for touching his foods, id rather not touch his else itll make him feel its ok to have our stuff when it clearly isnt. I think im going to look at getting a mortgage with my friend...thatll be the end of my worries with him...
havinmysay - i thought about that moaning to the land but i duno hes meant to be a friend...not much of one at that. Nah paddlocks impossible on the cupboards plus we share a freezer have our own drawers in there so theres no reason he should of been in ours in the first place. I just feel like i cant have anything anymore, he drinks my squash, eats my cereal, eats my milk, butter and not like he just borrows it...he finishes it off...i feel like murdering him seriously..
havinmysay - Yeah he knows how much hes annoyed me but he doesnt care just shrugs. Doesnt offer a replacement or anything. To be honest the way he has abused my property and treated it lately i dont really regard him as much of a friend anymore. I guess you dont really know someone until you live with them? Hes 26 acting 16, no respect for anyone or anything...everythings about looking cool with him and making you look stupid to make himself look better. Ive really had it with him i just dunno how to go about this.
Grr I feel like smashing his face in for you freak! People like this make me so mad! If you don't think he will ever leave or that the landlord will be of no good then I would seriously, with your best friend, look for another place ASAP! He obviously isn't going to change and will probably only get worse where it will get to the point he isn't buying anything at all and just uses yours and your friends things.
I would make it known to him that you are looking to move out because of his disgusting behaviour and that his free ride is about to end!!
Could you prehaps buy one of those mini fridges to keep some of your food in your room for the time being? I would buy lockable boxes and keep your cereal, biscuits etc.. in them and if he breaks into them report him to the landlord for theft, or even keep all your food in your own rooms if that's possible? I'd leave the paper with flats to rent circled lieing about so he knows your serious too! The cheeky mother!

havinmysay - im glad you agree, i just dunno what to do. Me and my mate will probably just start looking for somewhere new - to be fair itll be a HUGE shock when we go he will be left with absolutely NOTHING, he didnt contribute anything apart from a washing machine when we all moved out- which his parents gave him, whilst me and my mate struggled and landed in debt buying all cutlery, fridge, freezers etc...he will basically have the contents of his bedroom, a washing machine and 3 pint glasses and a knife block...wooo shot himself in the foot there! Plus hes always showing off he has so much money when he earns pretty much same as us...were struggling to get by, we buy all cleaning products and everything and he does no housework apart from washing up his own stuff which i must add we need to wash up again afterwards...grr
wingnut - nah he will never leave here, he wouldnt even be left home if it wasnt for us finding the hosue and sorting everything-hes damn useless, has no ambition so wont ever move on from here.
yeah i have a mini fridge in my room which will be being used from now! Though whats to stop him going in my room hey?
Cheers for your comment :)

freak - He obviously has a serious drink problem, everything else is secondry to him. Don't try to reason with him, he has no guilt. He's a taker - fullstop. My daughter was in a similar situation, gave him the lectures, broken promises, it didn't work! You and your best friend need to find a new place. Be ready for the emotional blackmail! He will promise the earth, he needs a roof over his head.
freak - Yes she did tell him to go in the end. Wierdly enough ,your predicament was exactly the same scenario! When you have already been friends with the person for a while, it's a really awkward situation, you give them chance after chance & they continue to take! Freak, because you are the giving person you are ( like my daughter ) they know how to emotionally pull you, it's a total misuse of a so called friendship. As I said earlier, get ready for the emotional stuff he'll throw at you! Don't have a conscience, he hasn't had any for you & your friend!
freak - NO! NO! NO! Be honest with yourself, is he really likely to change? It's just a matter of time. Listen, stick to your plans, leave on good terms, tell him it's not working out, don't give him any reason to find fault with you. The bottom line is, what are you & your friend prepared to put up with? This can't be the only thing he has done to date? In the end, it's your choice, but good luck with whatever you decide to do :0)
skyep - well to be honest hes a mate and everything so we wont leave on bad terms BUT we already know we just cant live with him it doesnt really work so we are still going to move, we are too different to him, plus we are looking to get a friends mortgage together as renting is just empty money and we dont know if we will buy property in this area really as want a change. Its different as me and my best mate have lived together fine with me living at her parents and sharing a room for 2 years before we moved out on our own which was 5 months ago and it works fine just me and her as were quite similar and thats how i prefer it, hate coming home from work wondering whos gunna be here what mess there is etc! Thanks so much for your time and advice , very much appreciated! :) x
