Watching the Falklands footage, I don't think it was obvious which helicopter Prince Andrew was actually flying, although I suppose if he'd be captured, it would have been pretty obvious who he was.
Harry's status does make him and his unit somewhat conspicuous, I suppose. But on the other hand, people join armies to fight wars. Being killed is an occupational hazard. I don't see why he should get out of it. Joining up was his own choice, and if he's going to do the job then he should do it properly or get out.

I am not a supporter of the Royal Family but if Harry goes to Iraq he will become a high profile target for extremists. If he is to do his job properly and not endanger others it is difficult to see how this will be possible without an enormous amount of extra security. Andrew was in a completely different situation, whatever one may think of the Argentines. There was no danger that he would be kidnapped, held to ransome or worse.
I agree with Johnny. How fantastic would it be for the other side to catch him and behead him live on tv? I don't think its a good idea, as soon as he is deployed out there I ma sure there will be whole bunch of extremists planning on kidnapping him. This isn't because he is a royal I feel like this, just because he is a human being and I think his life is at far greater risk out there and those who would be surrounding him, think he may be better off somewhere else where keeping the peace is a little less dangerous. All of out troops cant possibly in be in the middle east, can they?
I think this is a difficult dilemma because you simply can't ignore who he is. I admire his desire to be treated exactly as his men but I fear his his mere presence there will cause the insurgents to raise their game for the sheer publicity they would gain if he were to be injured, captured or killed, and this will increase the danger on all his companions as well. Actually I think it was pretty irresponsible of the press to announce it at all. I'm all for a free democratic society but I understand during the Second World War there were fairly strict censorship regulations which the press ignored at their peril on grounds on security, and perhaps there is a case for some of those regulations to be reintroduced. We aqre still fighting a war, even if it isn't necessarily on home territory. I can't imagine that the mothers, wives and girlfriends of men in Prince Harry's brigade will have their fears lightened, knowing that somebody of his status is out there with them. It makes them all more vulnerable to attack and I think they already have more than enough daily fear and anxiety to live with.
