Cramp during sport

I play football a lot, and towards the ends of matches my legs cramp up and i can't really contiue. I know this is a common occurance but can anyone tell me why it happens and what can i do to avoid it ?

Cramps are usually a sign of dehydration. As you say you are getting them toward the end of matches i would say to maybe rehydrate yourself at half time with a sports drink that replenishes salts,minerals and sugars that you have lost through sweating and exercise.

Another quick solution when cramping, eat a pinch of salt. It does work. But always keep hydrated.
