My hard drive is due for a reformat and a clean Win98 install- but i have an older computer that doesnt recognize hard drives over 8gb. Therefore my ungraded 20 gb drive has DDO on it. Can i safely reformat in normal fashion without disturbing the Dynamic Drive Overlay, and also, can i partition it into 2 10gb's? ~Jim

you should be able to format it within DOS.... It souldn do anything if you follow the instructions given. If you want to split your harddisk into 2 patitions use FDISK.

Thanks for that answer but i have already cone the deed! With DDO you have to format the hard drive with DDO formatting software (I have Fujitsu ON Track). At first I did that then formatted in the usual manner but that overwrites the DDO so I ended up with only the 8GB. I finally realized that you must skip the normal formatting and go directly to the OS installation process. I hope this helps anybody else in a similar situation. My only problem is with partitioning. The only options I can manage is 1 20GB or 10 2GB partitions. Anybody know a way around this? ~Jim ~Jim
