My camellia had hundred of buds this year but they didnt actually bloom they just faded and then fell off can anybody advise what i have done wrong underwatered overwatered etc..

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.If the leaves are still nice and shiny and green and haven't turned yellow I suspect it's not lacking in iron and therefore not needing a dose or two of sequestrine.
Possibly it's too dry around the roots. Camellias generally like a cool shady environment and we've had a very dry 12 months (here in the south of England at least). n I'd try giving it more water during the autumn and see if that helps the buds to start forming again and stay on until spring.

Hi Tilly, Camellias like neutral to acid soil. It does not like icy winds and the early morning sun. Frost and quick thawing in the morning can damage early formed buds and causes them to drop, which I think may have happened to yours plus with the hot summer, as Wendy says, lack of water may have contributed. General fertiliser for Camellias in spring and a good mulch of leaf mould/peat will help to keep moisturer in. Skylight
I have moved to a new house with a gorgeous healthy camellia, its in clay soil!
Everyone comments on it, neighbour even comments that he has tried to take cuttings of it but failed.
Its my first garden and I hope that I take good enough care of it.
