Sony hates us
I've just read that the European version of the PS3 will be able to play fewer PS2 games than it's US and Japanese counterparts. Apparently some functions that are performed in hardware will be done in software in our version. So not only will the UK be paying more than anywhere else for the PS3 but we'll actually be getting less for our money.

There is loads more out there. Basically Sony have made the Pal PS3 the same as the 360 - having to emulate each game rather than just being able to run it as a hardware feature. The only difference being that Microsoft never promised full backwards compatibility on their console.
So now, Sony are charging more for the PS3 than in Japan or America and giving us less! Great move!

I think the most galling part is that we'll be paying so much more than the other two regions for the PS3. Japan pay 207, USA pay 270 and we're expected to pay 425, yet again, Sony are treating us like 2nd class citizens. And look at most places where you can pre order, you have to take a bundle with a couple of games you might not want, which pushes the price up to 550.
