We are going to the Lakes and we have a Vango venture 500( i think). We have 2 children, one is 2 and the other is 7 months old. I have never been camping in my life so I am looking forward to it. We are going as its our first time for a long weekend and hopefuly we wont be returning home the next day.
Take a rubber mallet for the tent pegs and foam roll mats for added comfort. If you really like comfort take a fleece covered air mattress but make sure you've got a pump!
Wipes are very handy but you'll have those with you anyway.
A ground sheet to stop the water getting to you when you sleep in case it rains. Matches (and keep them dry!), toilet roll and tinned foods of all kinds, but most importantly a tin opener!
On the matter of groundsheets - Choose a breathable one (Eco-Mat or similar available from all good caravan accessory shops by the pre-pack or off the roll) not only because it is better for the grass but a lot of campsites refuse you with a normal one... SAVE THE GRASS! Take a mallet AND a peg extractor - for about 3 quid it's well worth it especially in hard ground... (thinking of more hehe)...
