What is the collective origin of the similar terms 'sucks' 'blows' and 'bites' (I think I know sucks but not certain) and the related 'bite me'?

I can only think of its translation in "english."
i.e.
(sidewalk-pavement),
"that sucks"-thats B*LL**CKS.

I think it relates to sucking something unpleasant actually, but why something should blow or bite I can only think refers to the same or similar activities.
I'm sure some of our American members can help as it must have started somewhere and hasn't been heard here until the 90s.
