I was watching Holby on Uk gold last night and was wondering why they phased out the maternity bit? It was aces and what happened to the loverly Owen?

I liked Holby better when the maternity unit was there. Don't watch Holby so much now is seems boring.

Over a period all the maternity staff left or transferred to another departments until Owen was the only one left.So when he left to look after his daughter,away from Chrissie,they had to close the department.

Holby, like many hospitals in the Bristol area have suffered budget cuts, hence the loss of the maternity unit.
Patricia Hewitt the health secretary, has recently announced plans to build a new multi million pound hospital in this area, with state of the art maternity facilities, so there should be some interesting storylines soon.

I always wonder why they got rid of the kiddies dept too - it had a nurse called Kerry and a ginger woman in charge....
