Kingston USB DataTraveler

I am trying to get some documents off of a friends Windows 98 computer. He has given me a USB flash gizmo called a Kingston Data traveler (512MB) which is not recognized on the PC. I have looked at it and realized i need to install a driver, so i downloaded one from the internet which was suitable for Windows 98SE (Not Windows) My question is what is the diffrence between Windows 98 and Windows 98SE. There is no option on the kingston website to download a driver for Windows 98 only.

Is there any other way of getting this info off his computer (I have tried Floppy disk and CD but do not work.)

Windows 98SE was released just under a year after Windows 98 (First Edition).

It basically fixes a whole host of bugs and problems with 98 including USB support. It may be worthwhile trying to get your hands on 98SE upgrade cd, although I haven't seen one of those for ages. Try ebay.

When you say you have tried floppy and doesn't work, what do you mean? Are the documents too big?

As a last resort you may be able to connect the internal hard drive to another PC and copy them over. (It should just show up as a local drive).

Thanks for this..................Yeah the files are too big. Getting windows 98SE on ebay could be a good shout, cheers
