no sound from pc speakers

my pc speakers have recently stop working well at least i thought it was my speakers until i purchased some new ones today and still have the same problem my media player is fine so i gather the problem is somewhere else.....help

software i guess. maybe you've muted it

go to control panel, look for sound and audio devices and check through the tabs in there you should find an answer to your problem
