Do you think it fair to have a Resident in Care Home that you work in? Someone you know but have not seen for years, that they now have Dementia. To me it does'nt seen fair on the Care Assistant to handle this situation. Just some input to what others think. Thanks

I worked in a local one and knew most of the residents. My best friends father was a resident. I`m sorry but I don`t see the problem. If you are a carer, you care whether you know the person or not. If they feel that strongly they will have to find another job,you can`t expect the resident to move.
I think you have to adopt a professional attitude to this. You are an employee and must care for, impartially, all the residents in the home. That is your role. Whether you know them socially or not is really irrelevant. Nurses, doctors and other health care workers have to deal with people they know socially all the time. I'm sure you will soon get used to what must feel a strange situation at first but if you feel really uncomfortable about dealing with this the only thing you can do is look for a job in a different Care Home.
