Is there a way of cleaning copper without using brasso or duraglit? I seem to think that there is a way with foil and baking powder or something like that. Or is that just for silver? Does anyone know please?

I think I have seen it said that tomato sauce will clean copper.
I haven't tried it myself though
There's a plate called Qwicksilver that you use with hot water & soda, along the same lines as foil but better. It can be used to clean brass & copper too.
You can also dip half a lemon in salt and rub with that. The Qwicksilver seems faster!
