masking tape residue

i used masking tape on my storage heater whilst decorating and left it on there too long.hence there is now a sticky mark all along it.does anyone how know i can remove this without scratching the heater.tried white spirit but as the heaters been used since and the mark has gone hard it didnt remove it thanks

Try nail varnish remover : )
Make sure it is cool, then spray hairspray on it and rub it gently with a dry white cloth

Try WD40
Nail varnish remover every time for me.
WD 40 usually works. But masking tape can come with different adhesives, each having a different solvent.
There's a product called 'Sticky Stuff Remover' that's based on citrus oils that will work with all of them.
Because you've used your heater, you may have to spend some time rubbing!
i thought masking tape was easy to remove with plenty of hot soapy water and a sponge

many thanks for all your tips,think this is a great site theres lots of helpful people about.have tried nail varnish remover and got some of it off will certainly try the other methods too cheers
