It is my understanding that speed limits cannot be lowerd by more than, I think, 30 mph at one go. ie. they cannot go from 70 to 30, they must have a stretch of going from 70 to 40 or 50 and from there to 30, no matter how short that stretch may be.
Rubbish - let's say you are on a dual carriageway approaching a town - the speed limit can easily go from 70 to 30 - no problem - there are signs to that effect ie a 30 sign just means that, but there are normally warning markers at 300 yards - have you been done for speeding then?
No Jock I've not been done.
It is just that I seem to think in cannot be lowered so quickly. Lately a road near me had the limit changed so as to incorporate a stretch at 50. It used to go from 70 to 30 but now goes 70 to 50 to 30 in a short space.
Thanks anyway.
I feel sure that you are right - this question arose recently and someone did give a qualified answer. Try the search facility and I will when I get bored.
