80s sci fi kids cartoon

Doing a little reminisching now I have hit 30 and was trying to remember the mane of a sho - it was on about the same time period as Ulysses 31, Battle of the Planets etc and all I can remember was it was about a big (military?) spaceship that possibly lost in space which had and enormous gun of some sort integrated longitudinally into the hull - not much to go on but everyone loves a challenge!

A little tweaking to my searching and the answer is... Starblazers (orig japanese title Space Battleship Yamato) - cool - now I just have to find it on DVD!

Ulysses was on way after BoP I thought.... ahhh... Halcyon days. Not a care in the world, and great cartoons.

Be warned though, it may not be as good as you remember!

Having woken up on the settee at about 7am one Saturday morning a few years ago, I found Ulysses was being repeated. YAY I thought! However, I had the stark realisation that Ulysses was, in actual fact, really badly dubbed and badly animated. I was quite disappointed as I absolutely loved Ulysses.. though I can't remember if they ever made it back to earth or not.

OBonio - I loved Ulysses - I used to rush home from work every week just to watch it! If I could watch it in my twenties I don't see why I can't still enjoy it now I'm in my forties!
