about to resign - do i take my sick leave

Hi there - i am about to resign from my current role of 4 wks - i feel like i was wronlgy placed and don't feel like i can serve an adequate level of work to the firm.

I am thinking of taking my sick leave - as i am due and not feeling my best before i resign - but i feel so guilty doing this - can you please assist me with this matter - as i feel really anxious about the whole story.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'I am thinking of taking my sick leave - as I am due'. How can you be 'due' any sick leave?

And as you haven't worked there very long, I would check your contract as you may find that you won't be paid if you are off sick. In my last job you had to have worked there for 3 months before qualifying for pay whilst off sick.
Have you worked there long?
I guessing you have worked for the company a bit but you have changed roles is this right?
Before you resign take a couple of weeks off to have a good think about it
Its an uncommon idea these days that folks consider they are due an amount of sick leave. In the private sector it disappeared in the 1970s - organisations sorted it out or went under. Even in the public sector sickness/absence is being managed more closely.
No one is due sick leave? Fully paid sick leave is a benefit companies offer their staff and generally you would of had to have worked for 3 months before being entitled to it. Sick leave entitlement is worked out on the basis that you will work a whole year? and what the companie believes is reasonable time off for sick. If you have only been working for 4 weeks I suspect you would of only incurred 1 day anyway is it worth it? most companies would expect you to self certify your sickness plus do not forget you may need this employer for a refernece in the furture?! Be honest tell your boss/employer you feel the job is wrong for you believe me that will go more in your favor and you never know may open other avenues for you!

They're is no such thing as sick 'leave'.

If you are reallynot feeling your best then of course you are entitled to take time off work for illness, but under these circumstances I would get yourself down the doctor straight away and explain why you are off work. Your doctor may sign you off for a couple of weeks if the strain of work is getting to you... assuming that's what you mean of course.

Your employer will not be happy that you resign and then call in sick, so make sure you cover your back as they could end up on the warpath with you.
I think what marryme is saying she gets paid sick pay so she wants to take it and use it as a holiday
A lot of people who get sick leave seem to think they have the right to use it and abuse the system.
Worker where i worked when sick leave was in had 5 weeks holidays and 4 weeks sick paid they all classed this as 9 weeks holiday wether they were sick or not.
Well in the end sick was stopped because of this
