Anti-Virus Software
6 Answers
Following the expiry of my Macafee subscrition about a month ago, I paid for and dowloaded the updated version. It has caused all sorts of hassle, making my machine run extremely slowly and cuasing problems when booting up. I have had to disable most of the features to let various programs run, largely defeating the purpose of having it at all. It is the pc in my office and is therefore running CAD programs as well as regular internet and e-mail activity. Does anyone have any tips? I can get my money back on the macafee download, but only for another few days. Is there a better alternative? Is the AVG freeware any good? I need to protect my machine, but I also need to use it! Any help appreciated!

I say 'could' because like most ABers I am not au fait with the bloated commercial offerings and stick to the superior free ones such as Avast or AVG

AVG is a well recognised anti virus and anti spyware program, with the added benefit that it's free.....
Also you may want to check out this website for other free ones which are even better and there is everything from free industry standard firewalls to backup software to the latest anti virus/spyware. Read some of the reviews on the website and I doubt that you will be dissapointed. I use it and quite frankly I find it better than anything else that I have used and for the record I would'nt touch McAfee or Norton for that matter with a 50ft barge pole!!!!!!!!!.
