A simple explanation:
1. An Indicating instrument would be one such as a speedometer on a car... indicates, by looking at it the results of whatever function it has.
2. A recording instrument would be one that records that which it is measuring. An example would be a seismometer used to record earthquakes. In a sense it is also an indicating instrument, but the actual recordation is it's primary purpose.
3. An integrating instrument is one that performs a task as well as giving an indication of it's effectiveness. An example that comes to mind is a simple thermocouple. It integrates impluses or information from one or more sources, performs work, such as igniting a flame or controlling temperature and can display an indicaiton of flow rates or temperatures...
