Rare white metallic mineral that consists of mercury and silver (7) ?M?L?A?. I keep coming up with amalgam but that can't be right can it?

To be used in dentistry seems to negate "Rare" - that has been my only thought so far - any further suggestions gratefully received

I think what has happened is the term amalam has been taken from the rare element and used as a generic term for any mixture of mercury. I remember mixing something with mercury to make fillings when I worked as a dental nurse (my friend says in 1802)
