right of access

i have right of access to a lane that runs behind all houses in my street. at the moment, only half of the length of the lane is accessbile to any traffic (foot or car) as trees and shrubs are v. overgrown. unfortunately the accessible half doesn't reach my house.

i would like to be able to drive my car down the lane and park it at the rear of my property as other homeowner's on the street can do. is this something that i can ask the local council to clear or would i have to sort this out myself with other neighbours?

It rather depends who owns the lane. The council will only be interested if it is part of the public highway. You could ask them. If it part of the highway its an offence for the bushes to overhang. Councils can and do come and trim them back.
