Did Monkey Dust get banned

Monkey Dust, the controversial animated comedy series won a clutch of awards before going off our screens in 2005. I know one of the writers died, but it doesn't explain why series 2 and 3 have never been released on DVD or why BBC Three which normal repeat its comedies endlessly has failed to show it again. I believe it got good rating st the time, and is now a bit of a cult on YouTube. My guess is that after 7/7, stuff like Omar, Abdul and Shafiq, the useless terrorists, are deemed unacceptable.

Shame, because it was very good. Anyone have any info on its disappearance?

On 8 November 2004, the first series of Monkey Dust was released in the UK on DVD. Several musical substitutions had to be made from the television airing (where the BBC is allowed to play any commercial release without permission), as artists such as Cliff Richard and David Gray would not allow their work to be used on the DVD. Cover versions of the original songs were used instead.

Interestingly, only the first series of Monkey Dust was commercially released on DVD. The second and third were only broadcast on BBC Two and BBC Three respectively, and later distributed (without profit) on BitTorrent sites such as UKNova. It has been speculated that due to growing controversy in Britain regarding issues such as paedophilia and terrorism (the latter particularly in wake of events such as the 7 July 2005 London bombings), people were reluctant to release it with its current '15' rating.[citation needed] A more official explanation was that it was out of respect for creator Harry Thompson's suffering through a terminal illness, although this does not explain why there are still no plans for release following his subsequent death.

I read the article on wikipedia and it did not answer the question 'did it get banned?'. That was why I posed the question here, hoping for some tv industry insight. I too spotted your answer was just a copy and paste from wilipedia. in future, I suggust that if you use sources other than your own knowledge, you should italicise the copied material or introduce where the text originated. Or just post the link.
