I was the same with my ex, we argued over silly things the whole time! It was never a very relaxing holiday!
However I now have a new BF and we've been away a few times and never had a cross word btw us! I think it depends on what your relationship is like anyway, just magnify that a bit because you are together 24/7

Oh, yes! It was a mixture of too much beer and being together 24/7 for almost three weeks. I had a glass ash tray thrown at me (missed me because he throws like a girl) and he was made to sleep on the balcony! ;o) The rest of the holiday was fab, though.
How long are you going for? How long have you been together? x

Yes, I've been there too. But it has got better over the years, as you know what to expect. My hubby hates lying on the beach sunbathing, to him that is a waste of time, whereas I do. He likes sightseeing and to me there is nothing more boring than looking at old ruins and churches. So we now compromise and literally do our own things. It helps to go with another couple of friends. One of my earliest terrible holidays clashed with the world cup and he spent the entire holiday in the lounge glued to the tv. I went berserk and nearly came home.
I think holidays with somebody with whom you are in a new relationship are where you really find out whether you're compatible or not when you are forced into each other's company for a longer time than over a dinner date. If one of you likes lazing on the beach and the other is a culture vulture who likes sightseeing, old & ruins, etc. . both of you will end up feeling aggrieved and disappointed.. Perhaps it's best to talk about what your expectations are in advance and if necessary agree that you might have to compromise, doing one person's preferred option one day, and the other's the next.
We went on our honeymoon and nearly got divorced although we laugh like hell about it now. It is hard as you are just not used to 24/.7 even with the one you love. Good luck. We have had many brilliant holidays since, the key is to know when you need time out and take it and accept it the other way round too.
My bf & i have never been away together, we have been together 3 years nxt week!
The first holiday we have planned together is the world cup 2010 as its in S.A, where he is from :)
Other then work, we are together all the time, i mean all the time, all weekend & every evening, so being together 24/7 wont be a problem for us.
