My son had an accident 14months ago, he swerved to avoid a car cutting him up, hit the kerb and lost control and hit 3 other vehicles. he only recieved notice of prosecution 2months ago and was advised by solicitor to plead not guilty. Got a letter today, case is on Monday morning. Now told cant get legal aid so he's going to have to defend himself. Judging by other answers on this site he stands little chance of this especially with no legal representation. As he's 19 and already has 6points this means he will lose his license and then lose his new job. Should he change his plea to guilty as I understand it will be difficult to prove he was taking care, try to explain and ask for leniency for the sake of his license and job. Will they be harsh on him if he pleads not guilty, I dont know what to advise him, can somebody please help?
thanks for answering, u were the only one who bothered. Six points were from riding a scrambler on waste ground when he was 16, he's not a manic road hog (just coz he's a teenager). Advise was asked for, NOT sympathy.
He went to court this morning and thankfully someone saw sense and case was dropped. Glad we pleaded Not Guilty as otherwise he would have already lost his license, all by post.
thankyou panicbutton, I understand its hard to give advice on certain issues, just slightly miffed that the only answer I got, after the fact, was somewhat sarcastic. Believe me, the poor sod cant leave the house without a "drive carefully" watch yr speed" be careful", he reckons I"m jinxing him, but cant help myself. Like yourself lets hope its happy driving from now on with all the benefits of job, money, etc.
i agree with you harassedmum this is a place for asking advice. surely wellard should find a sarcasm site which he can hopefully try and out wit others like him x
