What is the song that was being played on Life On Mars tuesday 13th March when they were driving to the place that the girl was murdered at? (It sounded a bit like Cat Stevens cross with Paulo Nutini!)

It was by Cat Stevens, but I didn't recognise the track. What a brilliant episode tonight.
These were the siongs used in tonights ep (off the BBC LOM page)

Lay Down by The Strawbs
Im Ready by Frankie Miller
Court In The Act by Lindisfarne
Samba Pa Ti by Santana
Coz I Love You by Slade
Aladin Sane by David Bowie
Rock On by T Rex
When The City Sleeps by Barclay James Harvest
Alone Again Naturally by Gilbert OSullivan

and appears to be in order they were played....no Cat Stevens there though??
It was Lay Down by the Strawbs then as it was the first song.

That's the one! Cheers.
That explains why I've been singing the Gilbert O'Sullivan track all day. I did wonder!!
cheers guys, it will settle a small wager
I would also point out that Strawbs are still around and performing regularly (sometimes as an acoustic trio, other times as the full 5 piece band)

I saw Strawbs last month - they were brilliant. Definitely recommended if you get the chance to see them and the albums are great. Lay Down is on Bursting at the Seams btw but they've got loads of other great albums too.

I was delighted to find out they're playing at this years Cropredy Festival too, on the Thursday (same day as Jools Holland).

Were you at Bilston, BettyStrawb?
