how long does probate take

hi does anyone know how long probate takes if there is no property just money to be sorted it out, as my nan died last august and my aunt is being a bit slow on it. she said she only sent it in january tobe done. any ideas thanks

Anything between a ouple of months and a couple of years, more if it's a complex case.

Traditionally executors have a year to sort things out.

If she sent all the forms in in January it should be through any time - but it will then take a while to gather in any assets and distribute them.
It should not take long. Mine took 4 months and that was without property. Also this includes the visit to the probate offices and to take an oath.
Sometimes it is other people who drag their feet, we had to send an "or else" letter from our solicitor to a building society who took eighteen months to pony up the cash - it is probably quite exasperating for your Aunt too. It took two years to finalise probate on two out of three occassions, We did an interim disbursment from house sale money in the mean time on the big one , as the building soc account would cover tax due!
