Fox Hunting
just following on from naomi24's question, is it true that the Tories have said that if they are elected they'll repeal the ban on hunting?
If yes, would this stance stop you voting for them?

I don't believe the ban has worked anyway - the hunts still go out. As an incredibly disillusioned lifelong Labour voter, I did vote for them the last time, but David Cameron doesn't exactly inspire me. I would certainly never vote Labour again, so I expect they would get my vote.

I cannot believe that so many voters are going to vote Tory after voting Labour. Do you have such short memories? As for the hunting ban - well hell would freeze over before I vote for the Conservative and Unionist party. I am against hunting for its cruelty and as Osacar Wilde said 'the unspeakable inpursuit of the uneatable' (I think). But then again I am against all murder - including that of the unborn child.
I'm still angry at the vast amount of parliamentary time that was wasted in bringing the ban in in the first place.
Irrespective of what government is in power I still place human rights over those of animals and would much prefer that the time had been spent on trying to help our children to get an adequate education, good health care and effective parenting.
I'll vote for anybody who'll do that

I'm totally against fox-hunting, but it wouldn't be my main concern when deciding who to vote for. Health, education, law and order, and transport are all more important issues for me. Unfortunately (and I can appreciate Ric.ror's point on this), my memory is long enough to recall the last Tory government and the reasons I was so delighted when they were kicked out in 1997. I don't believe this particular leopard has changed its spots.
I've never abstained from voting in a General Election since being old enough to vote, but I really am struggling to find a party worth voting for. Labour lurch from bad to worse, the Tories are as bad as ever, and the Lib Dems are in disarray. The only other party that may possibly put up a candidate in my constituency is UKIP, and I'm not even going to dignify the prospect of voting for them.

Is it just me or is this one of the most sensible debates ever to appear on AB? Where are the frothing-at-the-mouth BNP supporters?
Labour have let us all down. The Lib Dems have blown their big chance. Voting Tory is still absolutely laughable 10 years on. I may have to abstain.
But back to the question...
I'm not really that bothered about fox hunting but pledging to repeal the ban strikes me as politically crazy - it's like casting yourselves as Cruella De Vil or The Child Snatcher.
Actually, without wanting to get all 'working class warrior', I was glad to see the ban come in. Let's face it, if it had been a working class past time it would have been banned about 200 years ago - however much of a pest foxes are.
If they do bring it back, I'd like to see them all brought back. Badger baiting on pay-per-view and international **** fighting in Wembley Arena once a month.

I won't vote tory and never have because of the me me me attitude. I won't vote for them if they repeal the ban.
I have no objection to fishing or shooting as the out come is to eat what u kill or in the case of fishing throw it back but fox hunting has no out come other than to give a bunch of so called civilised people the chance to rip an animal to pieces.
Foxes may be a bit of a pest but humans are an even bigger one.
Foxes are only doing what comes natural to a preditory animal what excuse do they have to behave in the same why.

Irrelevant, the ban is innefective anyway. You've got to hand it to His Tonyness, he's managed to keep all the dongas happy by banning it and keep the hooray Henry's happy by making it impossible to enforce. Genius! There will never be a public prosection for fox hunting I mean the Police would have to mount undercover operations of huge expense and I don't think they are bothered.
So I suppose I'm surprised at the Tories for even bringinh this up, I mean just leave well alone Cameron, more important things to think about.

I'll be voting conservative at the next election and the fact that they will consider repealing the ban only enthuses me more.
I'll be glad to see the back of Tony - although with the exception of the Iraq war I think he could have been worse - and hope that David Cameron does breath some life back into politics.
I hope by repealing this unenforceable law he'll prove that he is behind the countryside minority. I'm happy for people to make their anti-foxhunting case on the basis of ethics but get cheesed off when there seems to be a class war agenda.
I know loads of middle class people who work hard to be able to afford to go hunting and certainly where I live (in rural Suffolk) there is a very good spread of tradesfolk and professionals who hunt.
