Schools will be able to ban pupils from wearing full face veils under new uniform guidance. It is thought that veils make communication between pupil and teacher difficult. The new guidelines will mean that religious dress can be banned from the classroom if a teacher feels it is getting in the way of a pupil's learning. Do full face veils hinder communication between pupil and teacher? What do you think?

I don't know if it hinders communication or not, but I agree with the principle that schools should be able to dictate a uniform policy.

I thought it odd that the lady in the veil on BBC News this morning thought that schools should be prepared to "bend the rules" whilst she herself seemed unwilling to do so. Plus she totally avoided the question about the fact that at least in the UK she had the opportunity to go to school and university!
