Chips in a tv screen

I have been given a rather nice TV, but the previous owner has thrown an ashtray at her ex, missing him & catching the screen....hence there are 1 or 2 very small chips/scratches. Is there anyway that I can 'rub' the scratches down to make them less noticable?

CAREFULLY with Jewellers Rouge OR ask your local Double Glazing Company what they use (trick of the trade!)
