Many people think its Thomas Crapper, but saxy is correct and *ALFIE* we should all be grateful, some of us still remember using outhouses with no flush!!!!
In Leicester, we even have a museum exhibition dedicated to the flush toilet:

See my post in People and Places under 'Little Gems' re Thomas Crapper. Seems I gave him too much credit.
So it seems that Mister Crapper only improved on an existing idea? Perhaps we should no longer be saying we are going for a crap then? Maybe a Har?
