Very Odd Cravings

I was just reading a post about cravings during pregnancy and I really do think my craving was very strange and very rare. I used to chew on bath sponges! They had to have warm water in them too. I used to get a pack of three every week purely to chew on. It makes me dither now to think of it but just wondered, has anyone had or know anyone that has had a strange craving like this? Or even a craving for sponges also! Thanks

I have read that sponges are a common craving during pregnancy...along with coal...

thankfully i havent started chewing on a sponge or coal as of yet (touch wood). lol. xxx

My mate used to have an awful craving to lick cars... but nly the grey grimey parts.... thankfully, she never did it in front of me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to like to stick my nose in Mr Sunflower's toolbox (ooerr mrs) and inhale deeply.

Well I never! I've just looked up sponge cravings on the net and a few came up. They even said that they had to be wet sponges. That is so strange. I wonder why!

i had the common one of wanting ice and also lettuce sandwiches with fresh white bread.

I knew many women that like plastic or petrol smells, even creosote :(

Not really strange, but my mum craved Pickled Onions when she was pregnant with me. I love pickled onions

redcrx - I also had a thing for ice but that was right near the beginning of my pregnancy. I once sat and ate a whole box of those mini ice pole's that kids have, in one evening.

joey, my craving for ice got worse towards the end. Id keep ice poles in freezer at work lol

I used to suck on sponges as a little child, and drink the bathwater that I was sitting in. Disgusting. It would drive my mum absolutely spare. Don't think I was pregnant though.

Mine was mashed swede with my first and cooking apples with my second.

Mine was milk (I kept it to skimmed though as I didnt want to end up any bigger!) I drank about 4 pints every 4-5 hours....

Mine was lemon curd.Euwwwww.At least I should be grateful it was of the food group.
