Rides on backs in Florida theme parks
12 Answers
My girlfriend and I are visiting Florida at the end of July. We are wanting to try all the roller coasters etc but we were wondering what the policy is for taking bags on rides.
When we visit theme parks here we usually just have stuff in our pockets etc. but was we well but in a different country id imagine we'd be carrying round passports, sun glasses, sun creame etc.
Would be girlfriend be allowed on a ride with a small hand bag? We are scared we won't be able to get on if we have stuff!
Otherwise, it looks like I'm going to have to don the "bum bag" and look ridiculous!

My advise is just dont worry about where you are gonna put items chill out and wear the dreaded bum bag like all the americans do I did and ime 97 years old (well will be in 50 years)if I havent crashed and burned by then.
Also another thing that is so brill is the wind tunnel where you can simulate a parachute jump in the wind tunnel I am 6 foot 4 and weigh 16 stone and walked into that wind tunnel and it made me flllllooooootttttttt (man) like i was a little log being picked up by the wind, tha,t is not in the theme parks but is next to the water park (cant think of the right name for the water park but I think its just after seaworld)
Anyway chill out and enjoy you will have the best holiday that you have ever had in your life

Sorry forgot to ad this be preparad (king spelling will have to go back to school) fot thunderstoms in the afternoon in july they wil be torentialy and you have never seen so much hard rain in your life but dont worry its only about an hours worth as they have many more storm cells in florida as they have in the uk dont worry and dont panic it is the norm and it will not turn into a hurricane (well in 98% of cases it wont)
So just get out there and enjoy yourwselfs.......
But you must have to do this.
hire a great big huge conmvertably car
juice it up at around 1.30a gallon (20p a litre) and drive down to daytona beach around 60 miles but dont forget every road in america has a max of 55mph and when you get to daytona you have miles and miles of beach to drive on and that is a one of that I have hadffirst hand of having experiance that is so cool

Nobby - don't know when you last went to Florida but you may be confusing this enquirer. Petrol is $2.40 per gallon and the speed limit is not 55 on many roads, it can go much higher. You obviously were pursuaded to get the convertible at the hire shop as no one wants them in view of the fact the the air conditioning will not work properly. If they do not have the car you have booked, the law requires them to give you a bigger car anyway without extra payment.. As they have lots of drop tops left over (only the Brits ever say "yes"), they offer them and charge extra hoping to find gullible people. Looks like they succeeded!.
When we went 18 months ago I had a small bag which went over my shoulders and a backpack (very hand for suncream, bottles of water, guide book etc etc). Many of the rides allowed me to take both bags on, but for those that don't there are lockers, as dumphuq has already said. Do you really need to carry your passports around with you though? I found my photo driving licence enough ID for anything I needed (cashing travellers cheques etc).
The passport is for alcohol, say if we went to the park then decided to go straight for a meal and a bottle of wine without returning to the hotel. I was advised by the travel agent to carry my passport with me as some shops can be funny about photo driving licences.
Ive just turned 21 but look about 17 so I need something that they are going to believe!

I agree with what has been posted regarding convertible cars, my neighbour on their first US trip was so happy they had been allocated a convertible and had grand visions of driving everywhere " look at us" type of thing, we just kept qiuet didnt want to rain on their parade as they knew it all anyway, after 2 days they returned it for something with air condition and closed.
