Word & Excel

Can anyone tell me where I can get Word and excel to install on my laptop?

Word and Excel are part of MS Office.

You can buy it from online retailers such as Amazon, high street stores such as PCWorld and so on, but it is very expensive.

I use a free suite - OpenOffice - which is fully compatible with Office unless you are doing hugely complex fomulae in Excel.

Ask around your mates, everybody knows someone that will lend you a copy, I would lend you one if you lived nearby!!

That's illegal.

You cannot borrow one because when you intstall Office you have to put in a 25 digit code.

If that code has already been used then you cannot activate the software.

If too many people put in the same code then the software stops working (even on the origial machine).

vehehelpfulguy, that only applies to later versions of word, I am using word 2000 and needed no validation!!

Ethel, yes I know its illegal, but I don't think Bill Gates bank balance will notice a few few copies floating around, I wont lose no sleep over depriving him of a few quid!!! Have you seen all the copies of Vista and XP floating around complete with validation key.

I don't think I have ever come across anybody that does not use some sort of illegal software, lol

I don't think I have ever owned a legal copy of windows and I been using windows since Windows95 and all the other Microsoft products.

hi luckey, have you tried demonoid .com lots of software for free!!! of course you must have a bitcomet or other to be able to download, i think we all get something free otherwise what would bill gates do with all the money,good luck, happymum.

Do you have any friends or relatives that work for BT or the NHS? Microsoft have a "Home Use Program" that allow employess of certain companies to purchase Office at heavily, heavily discounted prices! For example, Amazon's price of the full "pro" version is �366 and I've just purchase the "Enterprise" edition for �20 ... TWENTY... pounds! If only MS sold all their software at this price, there would be NO piracy!!!!!

Also, if you're studying, you might be eligible for the Student version which is around �85....
