this is a poker term, in the form of poker called texas hold'em the fifth and last community card(the cards all players can use) is called the river. dont know why, the first three cards laid together are called collectively the flop, the fourth card is known as the turn. so if your hand is dependant on the last community card to be any good, and you win the hand it would be said that you won the hand on the river
