Getting rid of salt in rendering.

We have our whole house rendered and painted. The painting was done a couple of years after the rendering was done so not down to this. The rest of the house is fine but just in the most noticeable area by our main entrance outside the back door salt comes through and bubbles up the paint and it flakes off. It is definately salt as we have tasted it - it is like bicarbonate of soda. We have brushed the surface down and sanded and repainted loads of times but it keeps coming through. Is there some sort of product we can use that deals with this situation. It is such a big house and the only area affected annoyingly is, as I say, by the back door. Help would be appreciated please.

It's common for salt to bleed from some types of bricks, It usually comes out in cold wheather, and can continue on & off for several years. I think you may have to find a chemical that will nutralize the salt, or a good brick /slate sealer to prevent bleeding. Unfortunately you may have to remove some render down to the bare brick bfore doing this. You could try sealing the render first and hope it works.You can buy the sealer from any good builders or roofing merchants.
