Suicide on the Internet?
Read about this? Sorry, I cant be arsed posting a link. Bloke was on an 'abuse' chatroom and filmed his own hanging live. Much to the shock og the 100 or so chatroom attendees. I don't have a take on it as such - but I've never heard of chatrooms where apparently you go and slag each other off - anyone know about them?

I daresay that if you're in an 'abuse' room and say you're going to kill yourself then everyone is going to abuse you and tell you to do it. The big problem with any form of written communication is that it is very hard to infer the tone from the content if there isn't much detail. If I write the line "I'm going to kill myself", in this passage, can you tell whether I'm joking or serious? I bet a lot of people thought he was joking and egged on 'the joke'.
It's a tragic story though, one that I felt was bound to happen one day.

Beria, most of us have to be restrained and careful what we say most of the time so that we don't upset the boss, work colleagues, partner etc. So my theory is that, in anonymous situations like the chatrooms you are talking about, people can let off steam without any repercussions.
I think it's the same on the road - people let their anger and aggression take over because it's relatively anonymous. If they behaved the same when not in their cars they would risk getting punched!
