how do you isolate the internal sensors, is there a switch or button somewhere?

It will tell you under secutiy system in your manual.

Otherwise try pressing the lock button on the key fob to lock the doors and then press it again immediately after - my red alarm sensor LED flashes again to show it's worked and that works for my car for when I leave the kids in it when me and the wife go off on holiday !!!

Thanks, I'll give it a go. I'm having trouble with the Alarm just going off w/o any reason, so am trying a process of Illimination before I pay through the nose for Vauxhall to do a diagnostic on it!!
i have an omega, if your alarm is anything like mine, you will have a button on the dash with a picture of a running man & a picture like a sounder on it.
if so you have to press this within 10 seconds of removing the ignition key.
