Harry Hill yesterday
I watched it and was appalled at the clip featuring someone called ' Bear ' ? where he bit the head off a little live frog and then put a live tortoise on an open fire to roast.
As an animal lover, I think there should have been a warning before hand.
Usually love HHTVB, one of my fave progs of the week, but I think this was an error of judgement.
What do you think ?

Must admit I turned away when I suddenly realised he was going to bite the head off the frog (plus I was eating my tea!) but still caught a glimpse as I wasn't quite quick enough :o(
I think he had killed the tortoise before putting it on the fire as it looked lifeless but it still wasn't very nice to see.
A warning beforehand would have been nice to know that it would be coming up sometime in the show.

Hi again peppy :o)
I think it was already dead as he put it on the fire as it just lay there not moving (although i was looking away alot so could be mistaken), I didn't hear what he was saying but would imagine that he knows himself putting a live tortoise on a fire for a TV prog would warrant a lot of complaints as well as being cruel. At least the frog would have died instantly but it still wasn't nice to watch.
I don't fancy watching the repeat to see if I'm right about the tortoise though :o(

I see your point peppy, but does this mean tv cookery programmes should put a disclaimer on everytime their about to show a lobster being cooked.
Say this out in the style of tv highlight of the week
"The most pointless post complaining about tv burp because its the best show on telly and theres only another few shows before the series ends of the week"

Bear Grylls is a 'survival' expert - he gets himself dropped into hopeless situations with nothing but a pocket knife and shows you how you can survive, if such a thing should happen to you. Yes he did eat the frog live - and ate it, not just bit the head off it - but the tortoise he had killed first, and made it clear that it was extremely important to kill your catches cleanly and painlessly. I don't watch Harry Hill, because I can't stand him, but no doubt he turned it into a 'gore fest', and it wasn't that at all. Bear Grylls programmes are fascinating.
Isn`t it surprising people see a bloke chomping down a frog and a turtle, but then seeing dead bodies on the news etc and seeing people jump for their lives from the twin towers seems to be ok to watch. It was a frog and a turtle for crying out loud, now you must excuse me because i`m off for my dinner which was probably running around a field a couple of days ago without a care in the world :)
