sensitive teeth

Erosion of enamel has made my teeth very sensitive. Do any of the toothpastes advertised to help really work?

I have the same problem, i use sensodyne toothpaste and must admit it has made a difference for the better, give it a couple of days and you should be ok

I thought Sensodyne didn't help at all and also the mint flavour is so mild it's pointless using it to freshen your mouth in the morning... even the extra cool one.

I found that Colgate was the best for sensitive teeth, which I use for a couple of days when I get sensitive teeth and then go back to Aquafresh whitening as I find that's the best for whitening, strongest taste and makes my mouth feel the freshest for longest.

I know it sounds wierd, but unless the toothpaste tastes really strong, I only ever brush my teeth with Colgate sensitive at night before i go to bed and it works a treat (I've not had any dental work in all my 31 years, brushing twice a day with a normal toothbrush!!!

I have experienced this and I used Sensodyne regular. It worked for me and helped a lot. I didn't have to visit the dentist because the Sensodyne did a great job with my teeth.

My dentist advised to use sensodyne years ago and it definitely worked for me.

Sensodyne or, Asda and Tesco's own brand for sensitive teeth and gum's.

My dentist told me to put a lump the size of a pea on my finger & rub it on my gums last thing at night, because when you clean your teeth the paste is only on your gums very briefly, doing it his way gives it more chance to work.

Thank you Solarjunkie, I'll try that because I am really suffering at the moment. Jeanette so pleased to read that your teeth are so healthy. I was unlucky enough to be born just after the last war and so my teeth are in a pretty dire state.

It doesn't help that my NHS dentist ran out of money in January and so I cannot get an appointment until next month. Thanks everyone for your advice.
